Name and Geographical Location
Cam Đà Communal House is located in Cam Đà Hamlet, Cam Thượng Commune, Ba Vì District, Hanoi City.
History and Worshiped Deities
The communal house is dedicated to the Three Holy Deities of Tản Mountain (Tam vị Đức Thánh Tản) — namely Tản Viên, Cao Sơn, and Quý Minh.
According to legend, Tản Viên—whose name was Nguyễn Tuấn—was the son of Nguyễn Cao Hành and Đinh Thị Điên, born in Lăng Xương Grotto, Hưng Hóa Prefecture, Sơn Tây Region, during the reign of Hùng Duệ Vương, the 18th Hung King.
Upon reaching adulthood, he mastered sacred powers and became the Mountain God of Tản Viên, also known as Sơn Tinh. He married Princess Ngọc Hoa, daughter of King Hùng Duệ Vương.
Tản Viên made great contributions in repelling the invasion of the Thục army, thereby safeguarding the nation. After his spiritual ascension at Mount Tản (Ba Vì), he was believed to have continued aiding later kings in defeating enemies and maintaining peace throughout the realm. He was posthumously conferred the title of Thượng đẳng thần (Supreme Deity).
Cao Sơn and Quý Minh are traditionally regarded as sons of Lạc Long Quân and Âu Cơ, who accompanied their mother in exploring and cultivating the mountainous regions. Cao Sơn’s real name was Nguyễn Hiền, while Quý Minh’s was Nguyễn Sùng. Both lived during the reign of Hùng Duệ Vương, the 18th Hung King, and rendered meritorious service to Tản Viên in subduing the rebellion of Thục Phán.
Cao Sơn and Quý Minh are venerated as the guardian deities who flank Tản Viên: Cao Sơn on the left, Quý Minh on the right, with Tản Viên at the center, forming the triad of Three Deities of Ba Vì. Later, they were honored as Thượng đẳng Phúc thần (Supreme Deities of Blessing). King Đinh Tiên Hoàng conferred upon them the titles of Cao Sơn Linh Ứng Đại Vương and Quý Minh Linh Ứng Đại Vương (“Highly Responsive Great Kings”).
Architecture and Artistry
Cam Đà Communal House was constructed during the Lê Trung Hưng period (Restored Lê Dynasty). Though it underwent several restorations during the Nguyễn Dynasty, it has preserved the artistic style characteristic of the Late Lê period.
The structure follows the traditional “Đinh”-shaped (丁) layout, consisting of the Great Hall (Đại bái) and the Rear Sanctuary (Hậu cung), both made of wood. The house features exquisite carvings that vividly embody the artistic essence of the 17th–18th centuries.
At present, the communal house preserves numerous valuable artifacts, including:
- Seven royal decrees of conferment (Sắc phong),
- One Eight-bearer Palanquin (Kiệu bát cống),
- One set of Dragon Throne and Altar Tablets (Long ngai – Bài vị),
- A pair of mythical lions (Nghê), and
- One incense altar (Hương án),
dating from the 18th to 19th centuries.
Heritage Classification
Cam Đà Communal House was officially recognized as a National Architectural and Artistic Monument in 2004 by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

(Kiệu bát cống),
(Long ngai – Bài vị),
(Nghê),
(Hương án),
